The hex number (5 A F)_{16} can be written as follows
= 5 x 16^{2} + A x 16^{1} + F x 16^{0}
Replace the hexadecimal numbers by its equivalent decimal values and perform the arithmetic operation
A = 10 and F = 15;
= 5 x 16^{2} + 10 x 16^{1} + 15 x 16^{0}
= 1280 + 160 + 15
= 1455
